Join the American Meteor Society community andcontribute valuable and precise data relating to meteor shower andfireball observations. The AMS App allows witnesses of fireballmeteors to log details about their observation using the mobiledevice. Sensors in the phone provide an accurate means to recordthe location of the observation as well as the azimuth andelevation values for the start and end points of the meteor. Usingthis data the AMS can accurately triangulate fireball meteors andplot their orbits to determine their celestial origins. The Appalso provides a means to log observations from meteor showers.Simply start your observing session and then each time you see ameteor point to that place in the sky and swipe your finger on thescreen in the direction the meteor traveled. Observation data isuploaded to the AMS website, available under your profile there andshared with the scientific community. The AMS App also provides auseful meteor shower calendar with star charts and moon conditionsfor all major and minor showers throughout the year.
